2025 Environmental Grant Recipients

At FortisAlberta, we know that building strong communities is essential to creating a sustainable future for all Albertans, and environmental efforts are an important part of that vision. That’s why this year we awarded 21 municipalities and organizations with an Environmental grant toward community naturalization and tree planting projects. Whether it’s planting flower beds downtown or creating a shared vegetable garden, we love seeing the creative ways you care for your communities.

The 2025 Community Naturalization/Tree Planting grant recipients are:  

  • Town of Stavely –Tree Growth Project
  • Town of Bassano – Roots for Renewal 

  • Town of Claresholm – Urban Forest Project 

  • Town of Bashaw – Trout Pound Beautification 

  • Town of Wainwright – Rotary All-Seasons Park Tree planting 

  • Bowden Hi-Way Golf Association – Replacing Aging Poplars 

  • Lacombe County – Blindman Day Use Tree planting 

  • JS McCormick School (Lacombe) – Tree planting at school playground  

  • Beiseker Parks and Trails – Tree planting at dog park 

  • Village of Rockyford – Tree replacement along 1 Street, SE 

  • Volunteer Airdrie – Fruit 4 All project 

  • Camrose County – Tree planting at Pelican Point Campground 

  • Summer Village of Mewatha Beach – Tree planting around Summer Village 

  • Summer Village of Larkspur – Community Shelter 

  • Summer Village of Island Lake South – Tree planting around Community Hall 

  • Summer Village of Bondiss – Shade trees in Lakeview Park 

  • Summer Village of Whispering Hills – Trees in Galloway Field 

  • Summer Village of Sunset Beach – Spruce trees along main road 

  • Summer Village of Nakamun Park - Municipal Reserve Rehabilitation and Shoreline Protection Project 

  • Darwell District Recreation Association – Darwell Centennial Hall beautification 

  • Town of Whitecourt – Tree planting along 50th Street
