New Streetlight Repair Map allows customers to request repairs easily

Feb 16, 2016, 17:15 PM

We launched a new Streetlight Repair Map to enable you to view streetlights within FortisAlberta’s service area and request repairs within minutes. Power Line Technicians now receive more detailed information about streetlight repair requests such as address and light identification, which allows them to make repairs even faster.

“Our customers are not always aware of who owns the streetlights in their municipality. Often they will call their municipal office to report a streetlight out, resulting in the municipality having to call us or complete a repair request form online. This can be time consuming and confusing, especially if multiple residents are calling about the same streetlights. With our new Streetlight Repair Map, the process for our customers is simplified,” says Mike Pashak, Vice President, Customer Service for FortisAlberta.

The launch of the Streetlight Repair Map also improves safety and efficiency for Municipalities in our service area. "Safety in our community is important. The new streetlight repair map provides user friendly, real-time access to streetlight status. It will streamline the process for our citizens and staff to report streetlight outages and avoids multiple reports as it shows if a repair has already been requested," says Greg Krischke, Mayor, City of Leduc.

Quick tips:

- If you report more than one streetlight repair and have entered your contact information, this will remain populated for each subsequent repair request.

- The map visually identifies streetlights that have been reported out, which then confirms to you that it is recorded.

- The map does not display streetlights where municipalities own their own systems.

To view the map, go to fortisalberta.com and click on “Request streetlight repair” on the home page or under the Municipalities section, or use this link
