Save Energy Grant presented to Cochrane High School

Mar 27, 2019, 19:06 PM

In 2018, FortisAlberta launched its Save Energy Grant program to assist with a variety of energy efficiency initiatives across our service territory. These grants will range from $1,000 to $5,000.

The Sustainable Development Committee (SDC) at Cochrane High School is a student-led organization with 18 years of active volunteerism in the community. Cochrane High SDC’s objective is to improve the sustainability of the school through policy initiatives or infrastructure changes, ultimately making things better for future generations. Phase 9 of this long-standing project involves installing a 50 kW photovoltaic (solar) system on the gymnasium’s roof. The power produced is anticipated to offset 8.5 per cent of the school’s annual consumption, which is equivalent to servicing seven average Cochrane households.

FortisAlberta strives to help our customers save money, reduce their energy consumption and minimize their environmental footprint, which is why we were very pleased to present the school with a $5,000 grant to put towards their project.
