Pitching In: FortisAlberta Powers Upgrades at Meadowview Ballpark

Jun 10, 2025, 16:55 PM

Blaze Recliffe, Operations Lead in St. Albert and member of the St. Albert Men’s Slow-Pitch Association (SAMSPA), saw an opportunity to enhance the Meadowview Softball Facility. Recognizing the need for upgrades, particularly to the aging concession area, Blaze applied for the FortisAlberta Communities in Action grant to help fund the much-needed improvements.

Several FortisAlberta employees who also play in the SAMSPA league supported the project by helping to build and install new stainless-steel tables and counters for the concession. They also participated in the spring WorkBee to prepare the ballpark for the upcoming season.

The WorkBee, held on April 26, brought together community members for a day of volunteer work. A FortisAlberta bucket truck was on site to assist with hanging signs and repairing netting; crews worked together to raise the ground grade and reinstall rubber flooring. Salvaged poles were donated to replace deteriorating ones in the parking lot. FortisAlberta also hosted a barbecue lunch to thank all those who came out to help.
