As wildfires continue to impact communities throughout Alberta, we remain on the ground, repairing the extensive damage that our system has sustained and restoring power when it is safe to do so.
The fires damaged more than 700 of our poles. As soon as an area was safe for our crews to enter, we began restoration work and as of May 24, we have replaced approximately 650 poles.
Most of our residential and farm customers have returned home and we had their power on for them when they arrived. Some of our commercial and oil and gas customers remain without power, as our crews are unable to access areas that are actively burning or impacted by heavy smoke.
While many Albertans within our service territory have returned to their communities, we know this is not the case for others. The strength and heart of Alberta communities has truly been on display during this time. Numerous community organizations have been stepping up to provide support and comfort to those who have had to leave their homes. At FortisAlberta, we will continue to be here for our customers as this situation evolves.
As we monitor the situation, we will post updates across our Facebook and Twitter channels to keep you informed on the status of restoration efforts.

If you come across a downed line or damaged equipment, please maintain a safe distance – at least 10 metres – and report the situation by calling us at 310-WIRE (9473). In addition, if you have questions about your electricity service upon re-entry, one of our customer service representatives, located in Airdrie, will be happy to assist you at the number above.
