FortisAlberta recorded 304 public safety incidents in 2009.

Most of the incidents occurred while people were at work operating the following types of equipment:

• Track hoes
• Gravel trucks
• Back hoes (underground contacts)
• Delivery trucks and high loads
• Agricultural equipment (mostly seed drill, grain auger and sprayer)
• Crane trucks

Please familiarize yourself with the limits of approach and hand signals given in the Code of Practice booklet. We also urge everyone working around power lines to take responsibility for their personal safety and make a safe work plan for every job.
