Guidelines for Electrical Installations

If you are doing electrical installations within FortisAlberta's service area, you will need to ensure that your installation will be satisfactory to both the inspection authority and FortisAlberta. We cannot energize service entrance or switch-gear equipment until its design, construction, location and application are acceptable to both the inspection authority and FortisAlberta.

The Alberta Service & Metering Guide provides information about most of the possible installations encountered on the FortisAlberta system. If your installation does not meet the requirements covered in this publication, please refer to the section on "Non-Standard Services".

To arrange an inspection of an installation, contact FortisAlberta toll-free at 310-WIRE (310-9473).

Terms and Conditions of Service

FortisAlberta's relationship with its customers is governed by Terms and Conditions of Service, as required by Alberta's Electric Utilities Act.  These Terms and Conditions also govern the relationship between FortisAlberta and a retailer, or any other person the customer has assigned to act on its behalf in its dealings with FortisAlberta.
