FortisAlberta is a regulated utility in the province of Alberta. Under the Electric Utilities Act (EUA), FortisAlberta is a distribution owner and is therefore subject to certain regulations. One such regulation is the Code of Conduct Regulation, which is enforced by the Market Surveillance Administrator (MSA), which is a government-appointed entity, independent of FortisAlberta. The following is FortisAlberta's Code of Conduct Compliance Plan:

Any complaints about FortisAlberta in respect of non-compliance with the Code of Conduct Regulation may be made to the MSA, in accordance with Section 51 of the EUA.

Also, the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC, formerly the Alberta Energy Utilities Board) has ordered that FortisAlberta's Inter-Affiliate Code of Conduct apply to transactions with affiliates of FortisAlberta.
